Baggage delivery at JFK took forever."

Somehow we wound up with seats right next to the bathroom door, which would have been a pretty uncomfortable situation for a variety of reasons, but the flight wasn't full, and she helped us find a suitable place to sit. Also, my wife and I usually take our tea with honey vs. milk and sugar. Even though honey is usually one of the options for tea, she found a way to accommodate our request. The lunch meals were the best I can remember in a long time on an airline flight. They might have been the best I've ever had. The chicken curry was authentic, flavorful and spicy. Frankly my outbound flight had problems. My luggage got damaged. The transfer experience in Manchester left a LOT to be desired. I wasn't planning to use Virgin Atlantic again, but this flight crew (Daniella especially) redeemed Virgin Atlantic. They were attentive, pleasant, diligent."
Minusy: "Only thing I didn't like about this flight was the boarding area. Once you get into that the area, you don't really have access to appetizing food (only vending machines) or even restrooms. That's one thing that could be improved."

Shortly after take-off, our calm and comfortable more or less empty section of the aircraft was colonised by an extended family of Orthodox Jews in a kind of airborne West Bank situation. They weren’t in our section of the cabin at all to start with, and I don’t know why they were apparently able to get a free upgrade that I had to pay £100 for. We went from being in an almost empty cabin to being basically sat in the middle of an Orthodox Jewish kindergarten. It was awful! They were noisy, messy, were constantly getting in and out of their seats, the back of my seat kept getting kicked, and there was even a baby crawling around the aisle. We were surrounded. I have no idea whether this is characteristic of Orthodox Jewish family life, or just a completely inconsiderate family. They didn’t exactly ruin my flight, but they didn’t make it enjoyable either. I asked to be moved. The cabin crew were great and acknowledged the difficulty of the situation. My wife lost her window seat but at least we still had the legroom and peace and quiet."

The leg room was so tight that I could not pick up things off the floor without putting my head in the next persons lap. Though the cabin crew were smiley and friendly, it was hard to get their attention when needed. The PA system is much louder than the entertainment, so announcements were ear bursting. The dinner selections ran out early, so a good proportion did not get their choice."

Plusy: "No one would update that the flight was delayed. They would not even communicate as to why delayed and would not put us in a different flight. Absolutely no customer service. Disappointed and would not fly jet airways again . I missed my conference lecture today as I was late."

Minusy: "Entertainment systems take up foot/bag space underneath the seats. Was not able to get more than one glass of wine, even though I missed the first beverage service, that is my fault though, but I don't recall it being an issue getting a drink between services. Entertainment systems had contrast issues and it seemed like a lot of people 8 - 10 had issues since they were using iPads instead of the built in monitors. A lot of wear showing on the entertainment systems remotes."

Plusy: "The speed of boarding, then the frequency of service. Cabin crew were very dedicated. All in all, a very smooth flight. Ps. my first Virgin was called Carole. ;)"

Audio for boarding was a little unclear so there was some confusion at boarding. For reasons unknown, my bag was moved from one overhead bin to another. Very frustrating since I board early to avoid this confusion and hassle."

Minusy: "My one piece of hard shell luggage has a special, difficult way of latching. As long as nobody opens it, it stays fine for shipping. The problem is your greedy Chinese luggage handling thieves who work for your airlines in Chinese airports. Whenever they can steal from luggage, they always try to steal from passengers, particularly American. I have had multiple experiences with theft from Chinese airports. I have been to China and back to the USA five times. Many times, items have disappeared from my suitcases in Chinese airports. That is why I decided not to move to China to live but instead move to Indonesia. However, if I fly any plane that transfers my luggage in China, I can usually expect to have my luggage robbed. Although this time, nothing was missing from my luggage, that fact that your people had to wrap my suitcase in plastic (because they did not know the secret for relatching it) and resend it a day later, that is proof that one of your airport personnel opened it to see what he could steal and then got caught because he could not close it again. I am really really really tired of you Chinese thieves. I blame all of you because you are all a product of Mao Tse Tung’s godless atheistic evil society. The Chinese have proven to me again and again that they cannot be trusted. A Kong Chinese official even stole my Ohio driver’s license when I transferred through that airport on a previous trip to Jakarta. I understand your problem. If you fire all dishonest luggage department workers, you will not have any workers remaining. That is why you will always rank as a third world backward primitive society even though you buy expensive airplanes that you don’t build and dress your people up like professionals which they aren’t. AS LONG AS Chinese airport luggage people are dishonest and cannot be trusted, your entire airline is a failure. That is not prejudice against Chinese people. I know some honest good ones. They are all Christians, the kind of good people the corrupt Chinese government hates. An atheistic country is an evil country. Do not expect to be respected by honest people. You people clearly do not deserve it. You are still in the stone age when it comes to professionalism which requires total honesty, a quality which your luggage handlers consider to be dispensable. Such cave men they are!"

Minusy: "I was actually upgraded to Business Class through a LH miles award, however, that upgrade was not honored, despite the fact that I had a confirmation email from them. I had to first get to Frankfurt to even negotiate this problem. At the departure point, LH was unable to furnish me a boarding pass to my NY flight. After racing though the huge airport at max speed to make this connection, I was treated rudely at the gate in Frankfurt by LH short tempered ground staff, to the point of even being accused of being the source of the problem and being late for boarding (when I was only accorded an hour connection through this booking, and raised this concern with LH prior). Lastly, the ground crew took away my connecting flight boarding pass and nearly forgot to give me back my luggage tag. The flight crew was Ok, but just did a bare minimum to keep up with the packed and overbooked flight. To top of the joy, I got food poisoning after landing in NYC - not all food they serve was in sealed containers, and it must have been enough to cause a day of misery that followed my arrival - I can assure you that the late time and taxing and docking delays in NYC took away any opportunity to have a normal dinner, and LH food was all I had all day... Not the usual LH experience, but I may give them a break for the next few trips."

Minusy: "There were no options for food, I was just told that there was only pasta left while the passenger next to me ate chicken. This was totally unacceptable. I only hope that this was my last trip with Lufthansa."

Plusy: "Professional, friendly, helpful staff in a new, quiet plane (A380-800). Smooth landing. Easy disembarkment despite approximately 500 passengers from a large aircraft."
Minusy: "Unreliable domestic Lufthansa flights (in Germany) connected to this international one, and the departure time history for this LH400 proved typical for this flight, which ultimately left nearly 2 hours late despite good local weather. An announcement cited technical difficulties with the originally scheduled plane. Several small groups we recognized from embarkation on this LH400 flight filed lost luggage claims, as we did. Uncharacteristically bad planning by LH on food choices left our rows near the front of Economy without a choice of meals: only pasta, tasty though it was, was available. The chicken option was gone. The flight status video program function did not work for anybody near us despite three equipment restarts by the crew."

Plusy: "The chicken, potatos and spinach dish was the best. I like that they have you a pillow, cover, and headphones."
Minusy: "At first the movies worked then they did a reset and my audio stopped working and they did another reset when I let an attendant know about it and it still didn't work. They never came back for me to let them know about the problem."

Plusy: "They waited for those who were running late due to a previous flight delay. The crew was super friendly and there was great movie suggestions."
Minusy: "There was a lot of turbulance which made a lot of the passengers sick. I think also that they collected the headphones too early like 45 mins/1 hour too early before landing. Also landing felt like it was the longest landing in my life."

This would mean that others did not have to queue for 25 minutes because the check in girls also had to deal with them"

Plusy: "She was cheerful and genuine. I have dietary restrictions but was unable to preorder a meal. She went out of her way to find an available meal for me. I also saw her bring other passengers extra snacks and drinks."

They didn't collect garbage before landing. Not only did we have to take our bags off the plane, we had to carry our garbage (drink cups/food served) to the front of the plane to throw out."

Plusy: "On both of my flights to New York City, I was amazed at how friendly and helpful the flight attendants were to the passengers. On my short flight from Basel to Amsterdam, a young French speaking girl was concerned about how to manage getting to her next gate. The flight attendants talked to her and arranged for someone to take her there. On my longer flight from Amsterdam to New York City, there was a customer who was in distress about missing a previous flight and not making it to her connecting flight in New York. One of the flight attendants reassured her until she stopped crying and calmed down. That same flight attendant was always so positive and cheerful in all she did. The rest of the crew was top notch. This was my best experience flying in such a long time. Well done, KLM crews of flights 1984 and 0645 on July 10!"

Relaxing atmosphere, comfortable seating, great in-flight entertainment, although I have the go-go in-flight data/entertainment plan with t-mobile (highly recommended), the flight included a decent selection of movies, television programs, etc. The food far exceeded typical "airline quality," even for an international flight - and included a fabulous little snack box with locally sourced gourmet and specialty items such as chocolate from Belgium, fine cheeses from France, and crackers from England. Drinks = gratis, and crew was exceptionally attentive and went out of their way to make flight as pleasant as possible."
