One passenger traveled from Houston with a bag of 11kgs. Items include 1 laptop documents and tablet. She didn't shop in Dubai. She was allowed in Houston but was charged $100 in Dubai for same weight."

Don't know whether Fly Dubai or Emirates are to blame but my suitcase (a top grade modern Samsonite) was a mess by the time it reached Geneva, with rubber seal on one side of the zip peeled back and almost off. Why can't airlines and terminals ensure baggage is treated with care and respect?"

Minusy: "I did not check the terms and conditions of the ticket. I am a Star Alliance Gold member and I was expecting SWISS to have a similar booking system like the others I fly with. I found out that the ticket fare did not contain checked luggage ( so I had to pay a hefty fee for it ) and also my 20" wheeled case that was ok in all the other flights I took it with me, this time was oversized and overweight . My wife took out the 2 laptops so it became within weight limits but still oversized - My wife paid for the fee ( I wasn't there at the time and she is not a such experienced flyier as I am ) . When I found out about the fee, I checked their rules and I found out that the hand luggage is allowed to be 22" . I saw in the airplane a lot of people with cases having the same size as mine, that went as checked luggage at a cost fo around 40 . I want to see how can I get my money back . . ."

Then when we got to the airport there were long lines to check in and no machines to self check in. When we finally got to the front of the line the woman said we had to pay for our checked baggage elsewhere and then come back for the boarding passes. Unheard of elsewhere. The people in the office where you pay for checked baggage took their time and chatted and had no sense of urgency. The first woman we spoke to apparently filled out the form incorrectly. We had to rush to get to the plane and we barely made it through long security lines. We almost missed the plane due to the lack of early information and check in, the cumbersome payment process, etc. It was the worst check in process ever."

I literally spent an hour in the toilet trying to fall asleep because at least in there I had room to extend my legs. At least in there I could actually breathe (the ventilation system is totally inadequate for anyone sitting near the windows and results in horribly stuffy and uncomfortable air.)"

Last time I flew with Norwegian, and it was a shocking experience: the crew were rude and unrpofessional, everything extra, they even refused to serve water to a passenger... So, never again Norwegian--Swiss was a nice change and, in the end, I paid more or less the same :-)"

Minusy: "the flight was almost 2 h late without any explanation from the ground crew whats is going on , why is the aircraft late and what would be with the connection flight in Istanbul. while arrived at Istanbul it was total mass : representative of turkish airlines was waiting and focused on a group from Korea or china , helped them and barely answered other passengers who didnt know what is the status of their connection flight , which was not shown on the screen ( to tel aviv for example ). then it turned out that my flight took off 15 min before and i was approached to turkish desk to get voucher for poor meal at 2.30 am in the morning and a new ticket . that was poor compensation for 2 h delay in BUD and delay to substitute flight that took off on 7:45 am , almost 6 h later in istanbul . i was forced to run at the airport like a mad instead of having a rep of the co , explaining the passengers where to go and get their new flight ticket and not run hundred of meters with no address in the terminal area . that experience was so bad i havent been through for 13 years . i arrived TA after 14.5 h of trip for a flight who to take 4 h net including istanbul - TA ."

I got to see the flight crew handle a medical emergency and saw that they were well prepared, efficient, and concerned. The food and entertainment were fine. I felt like the seat space was better than on British which I often use. I had an empty seat next to me however. I was impressed that the flight crew moved a taller gentleman to a premium (exit) seat to accommodate his extra tall stature. He didn't ask, but they wanted him to be comfortable."

Minusy: "I have been told at the airport that I had an unconfirmed flight and was told that I could not travel to Istanbul. I am still at my departure city, in Chicago. I bought my tickets just like anybody would, go on the website, pick the flights and pay. But someone did not do their job correctly and did not correctly confirm my flight. I paid for this incompetence by missing Christmas and a business meeting. Do not think it will never happen to you, it is just a matter of time that this kind of bad service catches up to you. The system is so disconnected or careless that it can't even figure out I couldn't take the flight which it is is asking me a review for."

I don't think they have a way to take money! This was the best flying experience I have ever had! The plane itself was also very nice. There was touchscreen in front of me with all kinds of entertainment plus a USB charger for my phone. They also made sure the closest connecting flight folks had gate attendants waiting for them. The service is phenomenal all the way around!"

Minusy: "According to the Turkish Airlines site they offer free accommodations to passengers who have over 10 hr layover in Istanbul if you are an economy passenger. I was under this impression that I would fall under this category because when I initially booked the ticket (JFK - IST - LIS and return LIS - IST - JFK) my layover back to JFK was 18 hours. Two weeks prior to leaving for my trip I received a notification saying that the layover will be extended to 34 hours. Seeing that my layover was extended, I thought that Turkish Airline would offer me accommodation for both nights. When I arrived to IST (10:30pm local time) I went to the Turkish Airline transfer desk in which they said they would not allow me to have the 2 nights accommodation. After about an hour and half of discussion they could only offer me one night accommodation and changed my flight to an earlier flight. The attendant who was serving me told me to wait by the kiosk until my name was called. At the 30 minute mark I tried to ask another kiosk attendant to see what the status was and he replied back in a very rude manner saying he has no idea what I'm referring to and that essentially was not his problem. After another hour and half of waiting and seeing other frustrated passengers going to the transfer desk and not being helped, I went on the queue to see what the status of my ticket was. They finally gave me my ticket and at this point it was close to 1am. Thankfully I did research before hand and under the assumption that I was going to spend a day in Istanbul, spent $20 and got a Turkish visa prior to my travel, which according the the turkish consulate website that you can no longer get a visa while in the airport. I finally reached the airport hotel at 2:30am but the airport shuttle was to arrive in 4 hours to shuttle all the passengers back. So not only did I deal with a rude staff, but I paid $20 to be in Turkey for about 4 hours in an airport hotel."

Even though each one has proper dimensions, they overload the overhead compartments and it is hard for everybody to place his/her belongings in a suitable way. 3. The rows in the airplane seems to have gotten closer ti each other. It is not the airlines fault, except perhaps when choosing whose airplanes to buy...but again, there are only two major contenders in that segment. For overseas flights, it is pretty uncomfy. 4. Lastly, unboarding the plane could also be performed (enforced by the crew) to be in a more civil fashion rather than haveing5 a stampedo - again calling separate grouos of rows in the name of fairness, or simply vacating it row by row from the front to back."

I managed to make it, and would not have had I waited another hour in line. Why no surge of staff to help? All 3 help numbers on my Lufthansa e-mail receipt could not help. Horrible experience."
