Regardless, my expectation of German airports and German engineering is high, but things we take granted in US like escalators are a luxury in Germany and clear directions are missing... on the oncoming flight we had to wait for a door to be unlocked while everyone was stuck in the aisle way and stairs.."

Plusy: "AC 018 takes the shortest route from Shanghai to Montreal. The check in and boarding were like a breeze. Cabin was clean, staff were amiable and hard working. The variety of drinks were plenty, the food matched the standard of cost efficiency flight ticket so how could you complain it? On board TV/Movie has new coming features such as HBO's Game of The Thorne, season 7. It was a comfortable and pleasant journey with the team of AC 018. Merci beaucoup!"

Also the film selection, had it worked, was wretched. Food was bland even by airline standards. Flight was delayed. I'm used to sleeping on these flights, even flying economy, but these seats were even more cramped than I'm used to. Perhaps all this would be forgivable had my flights been cheap, but no - it was about the most expensive trans-Atlantic flight I've had in recent memory."

As a result, I missed my connection and had to spend the night in an airport hotel in Montreal (which Air Canada paid for). These things happen, and they were very professional and sympathetic about it, but under the circumstances I can't give it more than 3 stars overall."

Minusy: "Most of the time economy class is uncomfortable because of the lack of foot room. So this time, for the long flight from China, I chose an exit row precisely for the extra leg space. However, there is no footrest at all , which as you're surely aware, is terribly uncomfortable when sitting for long periods, let along trying to sleep. Furthermore, the exit row seats are not provided a substitute for missing the usual back-of-the-seat pocket with magazines ; that means no spot to place books/papers/trash for the entire flight. Finally, I am 5'2 and petite, and was seated between two fairly slim men, and yet we were still all squeezed side to side. I had no elbow rest. I actually rested my head on one man's shoulder, once he was asleep, and hope he didn't notice. While this is unfortunately typical of economy class, it is not decent."

Minusy: "Gate 91 was allocated on boarding pass. It was switched to 95 Android did not inform anyone of the 10 pax waiting at gate 91. We were informed by one of the passenger that went to figuer out how Come that only 10 pax waiting at gate 91"

Minusy: "The check-in counter in DCA was AWFUL with only two people running and no kiosks working. They were rude and didn't listen to us either. When we got to the food part, it was disguisting. First of all, I am vegetarian but even if I ate meat, I wouldnt have eaten it. So I just ate bread for the 13 hour flight. Besides one flight attendant, the rest were rude, harsh and had a generally bad attitude. AIr Canada has BY FAR been the worst travel experience for me thus far. I guess you get what you pay for."

Then another time spilled OJ on me & didn't even notice or apologize or offer a napkin so I can clean myself off. Also I had wanted to upgrade my seat for this flight but was unable to because there was no representative at the huge airport in Shanghai. Nor could I do it online. That was a huge inconvenience!"

This type of short connection of international flight should not be arranged as we told you and AC when you told us the original booking was changed due to AC flight modification."

I am glad that I brought my own water, because the service was so limited. There was no entertainment system on board. I suppose the assumption is that everyone brings their won i-Pad."

Minusy: "service is poor. have been on both economy and busines class in air canada and you are treated very differently. the staff on economy treat you indifferently and have a little chip of their shoulder. the food is awful and most flights you have to pay for food, even for international flights, which is apparently against the law as they are obligated to serving food. i had to pay for a bowl of noodles - omg. essentially it is really about service. Dismal. It is noted they often win north american awards for their service. If anyone has flown american airlines - yes it may be the best of the worst. So if you have an option, skip it altogether. Try Cathay / Qatar / Singapore airlines wow!"

Plusy: "It was my 1st family trip to Korea from LA, USA. I was worried before trip because I have just turned 1 year baby. But the crew were so nice to us especially my baby they give us the best service to us ever. Food was great and they fed baby food too! even I didn't ordered(I didn't know that i had to pre-order.). Our seats were comfy and there was some space for my husband's legs; he is pretty tall. anyways so thankful trip for our family!"

It was absolutely not in my spam because it was never sent!"

We should have had short layover but flight got cancelled and terrible rebooking had us waiting 10 hours in middle of our trip at Beijing. The food on the flight was poor and the crew never came around to offer water."

Plusy: "Crew and flight were professional and courteous."
Minusy: "Passengers from Beijing were rude, and consistently snorting and spitting throughout the entire flight. Not just one person but everyone around us. Very disgusting and nauseating listening to that for 6+hours. I had earbuds in the entire flight and could still hear the spitting..."

Minusy: "the transfer process for 'transit stops' in Shanghai was cumbersome as there is not 'transfer' counter from AirChina to assist you. Everyone had to pass custom as new arrival foreigners, wait for '24-144hr transit visa check', go out of custom to arrival point, then re-check-in at AirChina counter as new departure, go through security again and be stamped with a departure visa check!! If you have less than 2hr transit stop, be sure you tell Chinese airport agents to expedite your process, esp if you have checked-in luggages! Good luck!"

Plusy: "Food was aweful! So bad that I had to get a vegetarian and the vegetarian was taken too literally, one piece of cucumber between two pieces of toast! The crew were not hospitable and nice at all! They would make u uncomfortable if u asked for something! The movies for entertainment, aweful, old and not up to date!"

Minusy: "All flight was delayed over 4 leg. Horrible experience and flight got cancel and rerouted to a further airport. No compensation from airline and had to lyft 50 miles home"

Plusy: "Nice plane. Appreciated priority boarding for my son and me. Also lost my phone right before boarding and someone was sent to look for it."
Minusy: "Some members of crew were very helpful while others were straight up rude when I asked for assistance."

Minusy: "The flight was two hours delayed, so I almost missed my next one--which was international."

Minusy: "AIR CHINA SHOOK ME DOWN FOR AN EXTRA $200 EVEN THOUGH I HAD PAID FOR MY TICKET IN FULL WEEKS EARLIER. HIGHLY UNETHICAL AIRLINE."

Plusy: "I boarded smoothly and everything was fine there. Just for an international airline, I expected there to be more legroom."

Plusy: "Space in business class"
Minusy: "Cabin appointment not impressive."

Minusy: "Cancelled a week before flight. No one pickup phone to rebooking."

Plusy: "Hospitality was great they were very friendly. For a larger individual I recommend choosing your seat because you could get placed in a seat with very little room. They did everything they could to accommodate us and make the trip as comfortable as possible."
Minusy: "Just simply the room I had but that's how it goes and those luxuries cost more."

Plusy: "The food was better than other airline. The flight was half full, I can sleep the whole roll seat. The flight attendants were nice."
Minusy: "The movie was the same going and coming back. The touch screen was not quite working."

Minusy: "Staff was grumpy and just looked like they hated their job Food was terrible All 4 flight legs were late Beijing airport feels like a luxury prison, no decent food options, no budget options for anything, only super overpriced boutiques."

Minusy: "The flight got cancelled and we had to take a flight 2 hours later. Even though the air line provided a lunch box as the original flight was scheduled to be at 12pm, the food was terrible."

Plusy: "I like schedule and direct flight"
Minusy: "Food entertainment no movie"

Plusy: "The crew was very nice and responsive to flyers. Enjoyed the free beer."
Minusy: "For a nearly 15 hour flight, there wasn't nearly enough for me to watch on their in-flight entertainment. They had only a handful of American movies, and everything else was Chinese. I get it, it's Air China. But you don't see Japan Airlines putting 90% Japanese movies on their flights. Food was no good. You're much better off trying to eat at the airport and bring whatever food you can on board."

Minusy: "My baggage did not arrive in manila with me. It takes 4 days before I recieved manila personel are not helpul at all. When I ask them the statuse of my bag they dont know and they said they said they well call me buy never recieved the call when i call them they said they have it but it take 6 days to be delivered. I told them only in the philippines take that long. Butom line they are very rud to me nor welling to help."

Plusy: "Taking off an landing were smooth"
Minusy: "The food was not good at all. I ordered a vegetarian meal and it was really bad. It tasted really bad. On the flight back, we made sure that we ate before we got on the plane. We brought pizza on the flight and had oatmeal packets just incase. The airline hostess were all very rude. Didn't care to speak english or understand our needs. The check in reps were also rude. Theres no such thing as good customer service when it comes to air china. I will never recommend this flight to anyone or will i fly on this airline ever again."
