Plusy: The most comfortable stay set amongst the property’s vineyard and olive plantation. There’s an abundance of activities to learn about the property and its surroundings. People are warm and welcoming, amenities are luxurious, coupled with the most relaxing atmosphere in Portugal.

Plusy: Truly exceptional hotel—the facilities are unbelievable, the staff so kind and helpful and the food is delicious, all from the farm.

Minusy: The trail for walking is a little hard to follow but great for an adventure nonetheless. Discovered wild horses and beautiful herds of cattle.

Plusy: We loved our stay at São Lourenço do Barrocal. The location outside Monsaraz was wonderful. The design was historically rustic, but very modern in all the right ways. I would highly recommend it for a couple getaway or family vacation. Our room was spacious and well-appointed with a comfy bed, plenty of space for luggage and dressing, a bathroom with dual sinks, a soaking tub, and separate shower. The room was very quiet and opened to a terrace overlooking the wine facility and rolling hills beyond. The pool area was amazing and peacefully. With two separate pool spaces, there was plenty of space for guests to be part of the crowd or find a quiet corner to relax. I especially liked the bar near one pool to relax with a drink and soak up the sun. The staff were very friendly and attentive and provided for every need. The onsite dining options were great. I would highly recommend the outdoor grill when open and available. The food was great and can't beat eating under the stars. The freely available bikes for exploring the surrounding landscape was a nice touch. We did a morning ride on some trails to enjoy the surrounding vistas. Also, the onsite spa is amazing. Strongly recommend scheduling a soak in the giant wood spa.

Minusy: Nothing of note. Only a recommendation to extend wifi to the parking area for GPS mapping reasons to enable guests to drive to local sights.

Plusy: This place is perfect, starting with the welcoming staff, though the facilities, food, atmosphere till the checkout. Exceptional place.

Plusy: The bed was the biggest we’ve ever slept in. Total silence, except for the birds. Exceptionally attentive front-of-house staff. Great in-room products. Adult pool area very chic.

Minusy: Pool bar service a bit slow and forgetful. Some waiters struggled to explain menu items.

Minusy: The afternoon snack from 5-6...if you didn't make it in beginning everything was gone by 5:30

Plusy: The porpety is amazing. Located at the top of the hill with views to the olive trees plantation. Such a relaxing and welcoming environment. Our rooms were all on the first floor, huge spaces, very comfortable. Maria, the owner who welcomed us was very attentive.

Minusy: That we couldn't stay longer =(

Plusy: Quiet and relaxing location. The property has been very tastefully renovated and decorated to a high standard which complimented the character of the property. The rooms were exceptionally clean. The bedding was of a high quality and breakfast included a good selection including Gluten Free bread on request. A beautiful property and we would not hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Minusy: We would have preferred firmer pillows and found the lighting (bathroom in particular) inadequate. In room tea and coffee making facilities would have been appreciated.

Plusy: The rural location was excellent to completely relax. The building and rooms were superb . The staff and the food was also first class. Will use again and try to stay for more than one night so we can explore the area.

Plusy: Beautiful home, gardens, landscape overall is stunning in this region. Very close to Monsarez sights, wineries and river. Really authentic experience and Host is a wealth of knowledge about area and very attentive to your needs.

Plusy: It was very refreshing, just like spending a day at a friends place. Beautiful location and property with a personal touch, very cozy. Although short (just one night) it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip. We will certainly come back

Plusy: The place is adorable. Not only it's located closely to several attractions (Monsaraz castle, Alentejo lake, wineries, distilleries, cork plantations, Evora town, observatory, water and motor sport centers), it also has an authentic and inviting atmosphere. The owner, Sergio, is very helpful and responsive. He is passionate about the region and knows quite a lot about it. The pool is a great place to hide from the heat at day and sip wine nearby by night. The breakfast is simple, but very good.

Plusy: Excellent breakfast (you can eat inside or outside), quite place for rest in the vacation or weekend. The owner is always available for any questions you have, very friendly person, excellent hospitality! Five stars :)

Plusy: We enjoyed the laid back vibe of this place. The host was kind and informed regularly if everything was all right. Breakfast was great and the rooms comfortable and clean. The family hotel vibe suited us well (note, this is not a big chain hotel, so don't expect picculos and such). All in all, a very relaxing enjoyable stay.

Plusy: Happy to recommend a local restaurant just 50 yards away but quite frankly it wasn't that great.

Minusy: No facility to have dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Plusy: The property is very nice and cozy. The staff was very nice.

Minusy: It seemed to me the hotel doesn’t have control over the guests and has a hard time enforcing basic rules specially regarding noise and children behavior. When you booking it’s better to confirm in advance if they have big groups. You may end up being faced with a big group that doesn’t respect the other guests and the hotel staff has little control over them.

Minusy: No restaurant with local cusine in the Vila.

Plusy: Loved our stay here. Room comfy and nice verandah to enjoy the view up to Monsaraz, which was only a very short drive away. Two swimming pools to enjoy. Breakfast plentiful. Staff recommendation of a local restaurant was great.

Plusy: Vila Planicie is a lovely place with and easy drive to the village of Monsaraz. We spent some time at the wonderful pool, enjoying a great view of the countryside. The breakfast was very nice. A great place to stay.

Plusy: Super friendly staff, very comfortable accommodations in a quite location with beautiful surroundings, care to details such as pre-heating the bed with warm water pillow. Will definitely stay there again, if in the area.

Minusy: A bit pricy for a mid of the week stay end of November, even if the satisfaction expectation was exceeded. The shower towels could be a bit bigger, to the lack of shower robes.

Plusy: The ambiance, the quite of the landscapes, the staff (most of the two receptionist), the really good breakfast, the cute cooker, the beauty of the swimming pool and the surroundings. It was the most amazing and relaxed weekend that I have in my live. 100% recommended for all kind of people. (So beautiful to go with your boyf or girlf, or even with your parents).

Plusy: The Horta is a luxurious ranch style building set amongst 800 acres of game reserve and vine with extensive gardens and pool and accomodates either groups in up to ten double rooms or single long or short bookings. The gem is Maria who is a local girl who provides a quiet unobtrusive service to her guests. The Horta is situated in remote countryside but within striking distance of all mjor towns on intrest and close to Evora. A real treat.

Minusy: Nothing

Plusy: Location, staff and rooms are simply charming, the surrounding countryside beautiful. The house is quiet and secluded and yet it is close to Evora and some of the most beautiful locations in Portugal, along the Guadiana Valley. A place anyone should visit and stay in once in one's life ...

Plusy: The young woman at the front desk was most helpful in calling taxis for us, making dinner recommendations and dinner reservations for us. We loved the pool area, the breakfast buffet and our room, which was clean and comfortable. The reading lights by the bed were super. We stayed two nights and felt right at home. Great hospitality.

Minusy: Well my room was not modern at all and it did not bother me old looking furniture but in great shape but the bathroom was remodeled so that was modern

Plusy: Great location. The room had good air conditioning and TV with several channels in English and Spanish.

Minusy: Bed had nothing on top of the spring mattress, making it impossible to be comfortable with steel springs poking you in the ribs or shoulder blades. No minibar in the room, it was just a tiny shared fridge in the reception.

Plusy: The small guest house was just inside the city wall, able to enter under the archway, right by the guest house, person on the desk very helpful about places to see and where to eat, parking was in a city lot across the road, at no cost as payment system not working. Use of kettle & microwave in the reception area

Minusy: The guest house has lots of stairs , We were OK but not for anyone with limited physical abilities.

Plusy: The staff was very attentive and gave the best suggestions to have a proper traditional meal. The location is nice, right in front of the aqueduct.

Plusy: The staff are delightful... attentive, genuinely kind, eager for you to have a good experience of their town and region. It might not be a 5-star luxury hotel, but it's absolutely charming because of all the personal attention they so readily extend to guests. The rooms are attractive: very clean, large and well designed. (e.g. Multiple electric outlets -- including on either side of the bed -- for recharging electronic devices.) The breakfast was excellent (truly excellent scrambled eggs + varieties of meats, local breads, mini croissants, cheese, fresh fruit, yoghurt, ceral.) The hotel bar is enormous, with several "conversation groupings of comfy chairs and tables, plus several televisions (noticed them in my peripheral vision but couldn't hear them

Plusy: Hotel clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Ideally positioned for the old and lovely city. Bar very good and reasonably priced. Very nice lounge and bar areas. Took a Tuk-Tuk tour which was recommended by the hotel and it was excellent.

Minusy: Could have had hot drink making facilities

Plusy: This is a clean and comfortable hotel. It’s pretty basic in what it provides. Off street parking is available (across from the hotel under the aqueduct) but be careful as there are two parking areas and one looks like it has to be paid for. The hotel’s location is just a short walk outside of the old town (maybe 10-15 minutes). Next door is a service station and supermarket.

Minusy: Breakfast, whilst adequate, could be a bit more adventurous. Whilst there is bar attached to the hotel this is not part of the hotel (they do provide some decent bar food in the evening). Coincidentally, those that run the bar also run a tuk tuk around Elvas and you should avail yourself of this service.

Plusy: It was a good location, easy parking and walking into old town, beds were comfortable. Wifi was good in the room. Breakfast was a usual hotel breakfast, There are elevators going to each floor.

Minusy: The breakfast was okay but wasn't stocked up after most of the customers were gone as the fresh fruit had only 1 apple left, only one type of bread and most of the cold cuts were gone.

Plusy: Świetnie położony hotel - blisko do ładnych miejsc w Portugalii i Hiszpanii. Widok na akwedukt z okna hotelu powala na kolana. Dużo darmowych miejsc parkingowych, choć publicznych. Dwie stacje benzynowe w pobliżu (ważne dla podróżujących samochodem). Bardzo dobra jakość w stosunku do ceny.

Minusy: Nie było lodówki w pokoju, ale to hotel trzygwiazdkowy, więc nie jest to zarzut.

Plusy: There is free parking on site. The breakfast was included and is very good with plenty of choice. The rooms are large. The location is great, within walking distance of good restaurants and the historical center. It is excellent value for money

Plusy: Boutique hotel filled with character and authentic furnishings. Room 201 was exceptionally large and quiet. We could not fault the property and will definitely recommend to family and friends as a great place to base yourself whilst visiting Elvas and the surrounding villages and vineyards.

Plusy: This property was a 'find'. So quiet and peaceful, we should have spend some days here. Nearby Elavas turned out to be a walled town with the walls built as an external castle type layered defence. The food in the restaurant was beautifully cooked and presented. A gem.

Plusy: Fabulous setting in huge estate, pools (fish and swimming) statues, aviary.... it goes on. The bed room was fine, but it lacked a comfortable chair where one could sit and read. The bathroom was large with acres of marble, though let down by a plastic bath which had seen better days. A number of families with young and mostly unsupervised children were also staying, which removed much chance of peace in the sitting rooms downstairs or out on the terrace, until their bedtime. The swimming pool, a vast and magnificent thing, only had a few inches of water so was unusable.

Minusy: Rather a grand room, but the TV and one of the bedside lights didn't work. Promptly rectified, though. Didn't eat in, as the restaurant was a little over - formal ( though not punishingly expensive) and we preferred something more ethnic.

Minusy: Niestety byłem po sezonie i byłem jedynym gościem w hotelu. Myślę że tak duże obiekty po sezonie powinny być zamykane. Podczas śniadania walczyłem z muchami o posiłek.

Plusy: Great swimming pool. Faded splendour of a previous age. Quiet and comfortable. Great, upgraded room overlooking garden.

Minusy: Restaurant not really equipped to serve dinners. Slow and not great food. No WiFi except in reception.

Plusy: Welcoming friendly staff, clean rooms. The bed was firm and the bathroom was perfectly adequate. Outstanding value for money. Wifi was ok for basic purposes. Exactly as the description says, the it's outside the city walls, an easy 1km stroll to the roman arches and a further walk up to the old city and castle. Tis is fine for me as I enjoy walking. Right next to two restaurants. Easy free parking right in front.

Minusy: The bed in the small single room was not the most comfortable and slightly short (but fine for one person as I could sleep diagonally!), and the wifi was slightly patchy. But for the price, really great. Would stay again.

Minusy: This place is located outside the fortified city and requires a long wall uphill to access the major viewpoints. Wouldn't advise for backpackers.

Plusy: The location is good for stay if you are on the road and the fact that everything was really nice and clean, very helpful and friendly people

Minusy: the bed was not as comfortable breakfast was a bit farter than expected the decorations in house where to much

Plusy: I like to stay in this traditional residencial. The place is next to a couple of nice restaurant with good price and traditional food. The room is quiet nice, the bathroom also, wi fi working quiet well. the city center is at 20 minutes by walk or you can go in taxi. To reach bus station better to take a taxi from the hotel.

Minusy: the distance form the city center if you travel with public trasportation and not with car
