Plusy: Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Minusy: They were unable to give us the size car I had reserved and it was hard to find the drop-off point at Oslo Airport. That may not be Hertz's fault!

Minusy: Had aim early morning flight out of Stavanger and Hertz was not open and could not find a drop off box for the keys. After several inquiries someone was finally able to direct me to correct location.

Plusy: Car was clean and comfortable, got us where we needed to go.

Minusy: The representative at Hertz uncharged me more than double what I initially paid, by claiming that I reserved an electric car and switching my reservation, even though my original rental agreement made no mention of electric vehicles. This was an unpleasant and costly experience.

Shocked at the one-way fee!!!

Plusy: AVIS in Bergen was extremely helpful. Due to the bicycle race we could not return the car as planned. The local AVIS people were very accommodating in agreeing to pick up the car and allowing us to catch our flight back to Stockholm. They could not have been more helpful. The poor rating is solely due to the excessive one-way fees and the failure to explain these to us.

Minusy: Nobody unexplained costs for a one-way rental and fact that they could change this fee at their discretion. The Bergen AVIS office increased the one-way fee by 3x (from 4000 SEK to 12000 SEK) without any notice that they were doing that. We did not discover this until we returned from our trip and I checked our credit card statement. The total cost of the 3-day rental was over $2300.00. We feel cheated and taken advantage of and will likely not rent from AVIS again! When I called AVIS customer service I was told there was nothing that could be done....in essence it was our fault for not asking in advance. extremely disappointed.

Shocked at the one-way fee!!!
