Palacete Chafariz D'El Rei

The decor and upkeep of the hotel was excellent in the common areas but a little tired and worn in the room. The staff were wonderful; attentive and courteous, however with only 1-2 people on duty at a time I found they were stretched when trying to service all customer requirements. Having one more person around would have made all the difference to the customer experience. Without doubt the breakfasts were the best I ever experienced in any hotel I have stayed in previously, the smell of warming croissants pervading the bedroom in the morning were the best alarm clock.

The staff was very attentive and courteous. The building is well maintained. Breakfast was delicious and copious. Location in this area is convenient.

Given the fact that it is considered a 5 star facility and the owner is the Taylor Porto wine company a complementary bottle of wine upon arrival would be appreciated. Additionally, a coffee maker for a cup of coffee would be appreciated.

Hotel is well maintained for such an older Palacio. Great Character. The Rooms are charming. Location is fabulous for that section of town. The staff is excellent and accommodating.

Considering the hotel is owned and operated by Taylor Porto Wine Company, a complimentary small bottle upon our arrival would have been nice. Also, a Nespresso machine for a cup of coffee in the morning or afternoon should be included.
