Itaca Hotel Jerez

Location was reasonably accessible to old centre.

Unfriendly welcome. Staff abrupt and not at all welcoming. When we arrived at our room we discovered we had 2 single beds and not a double as requested. Upon returning to the reception to sort out the problem the receptionist simply said there was nothing they could do. They said the problem was with booking.com. However, if there was no option to have a room with a double bed why would booking make that an option. They were not at all interested in resolving the issue and kept insisting they could not do anything. Extremely poor customer service. The room is fine however the wall paper is completely peeling off. There was a simple sheet on the bed and nothing more. If you wanted another cover it was a duvet without a cover in the closet. Likely not cleaned for a long time. Note also the sign outside the hotel does not have the same name as stated on booking. We drove around 3 times before confirming it was the right place. No parking. Street parking was very difficult and it was the weekend.

The beds and pillows were really comfortable. It was great to have a bigger room with extra seating so we didn't have to sit on the bed all the time. The hotel was a short, easy walk to the train station and to the center of the old town.

The room was extremely hot during the day. Our room faced south, so the sun heated up the room very quickly and the air conditioning didn't do much to cool it down. We were there in early February, so I can't imagine what this would've been like in the summer. We basically had to stay out of the room during the day and open the windows once the sun went down to let cool air in. The windows are also thin, so we constantly heard loud street noise during the night and early morning. The bathroom desperately needs an update, seemed dingy. Breakfast was mediocre. We also realized our booking was supposed to come with a free glass of sherry at check-in but we never got this. There was no "do not disturb" sign, which was a little annoying.
